Peter Payne
Peter Rowland Payne, 70, a retired naval architect and resident of Severna Park, died Dec. 10 at his home. The cause of death was not available.
Mr. Payne was the owner of Payne Associates and president of Dynafoils Inc.
He was born in Moreton-on-the-Marsh, educated in England, served in the Royal Air Force and moved to Toronto. Canada in 1953. He lived in Denver, Gaithershurg, and Stevensville before coming to this area.
He was a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, and served as the U.S. delegate to the International Standards Organization.
His memberships also included St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, the Annapolis Chorale, and the Big Vanilla Tennis and Racquetball Club. He served as president of the Olde Severna Park Improvement Association.
Surviving are his wife. Mary Cullman Payne, whom he married in 1992; four sons. Jonathan Payne of Atlanta, Graeme Payne of Charleston. S.C. Adrian Payne of Phoenix and Peter Payne of Isesaki. Japan.- two daughters. Lesley Payne of Monterey,. Calif.. and Hilary Detmers of San Diego: nine grand-children; his mother. Florence Freda Badham Payne. and two siblings. Pauline and John Howard Payne, all of the United Kingdom.
Services will be at 2 pm tomorrow at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church. with burial in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers. memorial contributions may be made to St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 1601 Pleasant Plains Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.
